The SC15 Report

I did this type of blog for May Feng so it felt only right to continue.
Admittedly this will mostly be a copy and paste of that report but with the SC15 information.

The Attendance

Third event in a row third increase in attendance. Really happy with this as a TO and although I imagine I could push this forward for May Feng 2 I believe 36 will always be the cap.

For those who like percentages that's almost a 55% increase over a year.

Popping Cherries

One of the more exciting things as a tournament organiser is knowing that your event for some is their first experience of a Malifaux tournament.

I believe it was four attendees first time, around 12% of the field, popped their Malifaux tournament cherry at September's Curse 2015.
The highest finisher of which was James Leeves coming in at 21st.

There were also plenty of people who were making this their second event, a few of which had been to smaller event's like Jan's Soulstone Poole.

Faction Breakdown

Arcanists and Resurrectionists were most popular, but not by far.

Neverborn were the least represented where as they were the most at May Feng.
What was interesting with this was Thunders had only one player last event and this time they outnumber the purple team.

What was also interesting is there were no few than three players for one faction so no default prizes.

Faction Finishes

The best faction on average was the least represented in the Neverborn, two thirds of the podium spots were taken by them so on average they still would place 7th.

Out of the two most represented factions the Resurrectionists did better than the Arcanists (except for trophies). An average of 13th place over 18th.

The worst faction was the Guild, it was not a good showing for them with an average of 30th place.

The Big Results

Mostly just for extra clarity the trophy winners:

  • Jon Hill won "Midtable Mediocrity"
  • Domonic Westerland was awarded Best Sports though tied with Martin Wodehouse and Luke Cocksedge
  • Maria Wieland won Best Painted: Player's Choice and Most Travelled
  • Bruno Santos won Best Painted: Judges' Choice
  • Liam Coupland won Best Guild
  • Leigh Buckett won Best Ten Thunder
  • David Hill won Best Gremlin
  • James Reeves won Best Outcast
  • Josh Leak won Best Resurrectionist (again!)
  • Greg Piskosz won 3rd Place
  • Mark Elwood won Best Neverborn and 2nd Place
  • Martin Wodehouse won Best Arcanist and 1st Place overall.
  • Also best team was made up of Greg Piskosz, Maria Wieland and Benjamin Crowe
Other random statistics to finish with:
  • Best VP diff was Greg Piskosz
  • Best Total VP was Mark Elwood
  • Best VP diff outside of the podium was James Reeves
  • Best Total VP outside of the podium was Josh Leak
  • Previous Best Team "Dom's Rent Boys" were tied second for Best Team with The Black Joker combo of Josh Leak, Tim Brown and James Reeves

I hope that you enjoyed this little number based blog
The results could also cough out a lot of other numbers but these are just a few of the most interesting.

Thanks for reading.
